Funky Dog

We live in a very wooded neighborhood and often see a variety of creatures from squirrels & chipmunks to raccoons and owls (well, we don't really see owls,
just hear them at night).

On the way home from lunch today we saw a new animal, a groundhog, in our neighbor's yard.

I stopped the car in the driveway so Luke could see the groundhog, we stared at him for a few seconds and he back at us, then we went inside.

Up until this week I've never actually seen a groundhog in person or if I have I don't remember,
but we've seen two this week alone.

Later in the afternoon we went to the store,
and as we were pulling back in the driveway,
Luke asks, "Mommy, where's the Funky Dog?".

I said, "what Luke?!?".

Again Luke says, "where's the FUNKY DOG?".

Trying to hold back the giggles, I told him that he must have gone home to be with his family.

I guess, in a way, he kinda does look like a Funky Dog

Oh, I love all the things little ones say. And two in one week. Wow, I don't think I have ever seen one in real life.

Hilarious!!

When I used to work in the office at Slappey, I would take my lunch breaks out back in the gazebo. There was a hill covered in Kudzu right behind it, and a family of Groundhogs lived in it. They would come out and slide down the hill on their butts, as if they were at the playground or something.

And, it was always fun to see them go from being super skinny the first thing in the Spring to as fat as Hippos by the time the Fall rolled around - preparing for hibernation, I'm assuming.

I miss my Groundhog family!
